An egg timer that starts with the egg

egg timer: eggy

A large egg from the fridge won't cook at the same pace as a smaller, warmer one. Tell eggy what you're cooking and how you like the yolk, and it'll work out a starting time for you.

Why it helps

One timer does not fit every egg.

Most egg timings assume a certain size and temperature, even when they don't say so. eggy asks for those details up front, then gives you a practical starting point that matches the egg in front of you.

01

Use the carton or a scale

Choose S, M, L, or XL when that's all you know. If you have the exact weight, you can enter that instead.

02

Pick the center you like

Choose a flowing yolk, a softer set center, or a firm hard-boiled egg. There is no single right result.

03

Keep the timer nearby

Follow the Live Activity on your iPhone or start from Apple Watch or Siri when your hands aren't free.

How it works

Set the timer around the egg you are cooking.

01

Add the egg details

Choose its size or weight, then say whether it came from the fridge or is closer to room temperature.

02

Choose the yolk

Pick liquid, soft, or firm based on what you are making and how you like to eat it.

03

Put the water on

Bring the water to a boil and carefully lower in the egg.

04

Start the timer

Begin the calculated countdown on your iPhone, Apple Watch, or with Siri.

05

Cool the egg

Move it into cold water when the alarm sounds to limit further cooking.
